America The Great Experiment

Our Founding Fathers termed America as the "Great Experiment". This is because it was the first time in history that citizens of a nation would be completely free. They would be free to worship the way they wanted, free from taxation without representation and free to use their God given talents to prosper without excessive Government control. But this freedom didn't come without paying a very high price. A ragtag army of farmers, store keepers, teachers and ordinary citizens took up arms to fight against the most powerful nation on earth... for the cause of freedom. They fought from 1776 until 1782 under incredible hardship for the right to be called free men. The American people need to stand up and join the fight that our ancestors started 234 years ago. The Government that was established to serve the people is now completely out of control and this must stop. Richard and I only have two voices but we pray that this Blog will help influence (in some small way) our readers to get involved and take Washington back from politicians and give it back to the people. God was with our Founding Fathers and he is still with us today but we must follow the road map he gave us; his word.
He sums it up in 2nd Chronicles 7:14 -

"If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways than will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land".

God Bless America

My Daily Voice

March 29th 2010;

The Pickens County Tea Party met last week and what an incredible turnout...the month
before we had 95 in attendance and last week we had 206. Contrary to what you hear on
your TV; everyone was very respectful and there was no burned cars or broken windows. However the group did make itself perfectly clear... they were fed up with Washington's miss use
of the power that We The People have given them and we are NOT going to tolerate it anymore and you WILL be held accountable. Don't think we are going away.....we have only just begun!

March 4th 2010:

It seems that things continue to head down the "toilet" in Washington. I don't understand (I really do) why our representatives are not looking at the Constitution when they contemplate solutions to our problems. I am not a rocket scientist but it pretty clear to me, when your trying to make a cake you need the right ingredients and the directions on how to blend those ingredients. Our directions are located in the U.S. Constitution and give us everything we need to get our country back on track; but our leaders in Washington are not interested in taking their lead from our Founding Fathers. Even on Glenn Becks program today, he is asking Judge N. "what can we do to get back on track"; all the Judge said was "do this and do that" but I submit to you those things don't fix the "REAL" problem. George Washington said the most important pillars of our republic were morality, religion and virtue and without these "supports" the greatest nation on earth will surely fail. Glenn the first thing we need to do is get men and women who embrace the constitution and are willing to do the right thing. Where are the George Washington's of today???

February 20th 2010:

Over the past year or so it has become very apparent to me that our country has completely strayed from it's intended path. As I listen to all the pundits repackage the news in an attempt to influence the "herds" of citizens that don't take the time to educate themselves on what it took to make America the greatest nation on earth; it is crystal clear how wise those patriots really were when they stressed an educated citizenry. Let me try to explain what I mean.
The Founding Fathers determined (after much prayer; and if you don't believe that, do a little research and educate yourself) that in order for men/women to be truly free a constitution had to be drafted containing ingredients that when properly mixed resulted in a form of government that perfectly "straddled the fence" between tyranny and anarchy. These ingredients included virtue, religion and morality (if you don't believe that do a little research and educate yourself) and when those ingredients were mixed properly we would end up with the greatest nation on earth. We would be a nation of free men/women able to chart our own course and reap the benefits of our hard work. But remember the success or failure of this "experiment" depended on have the right ingredients; I like to use the example of a chocolate cake; if you don't mix the right ingredients in the right way there is no telling what you will end up with. Or how about a automobile engine; if you try to put gas in an engine that was built to run on jet fuel....guess what ; it won't run. I know it is hard to believe..but there really is a Right and Wrong!!!!
I'm sorry to say but we've lost the recipe for the greatest nation on earth; we don't have men of virtue in Washington and religion and morality are now "whatever feels good to the individual" so what did we expect was going to happen. The America that used to be called "the light on the hill" is now being attacked from every quarter, the values that our Founders fought and died for are not even being taught is schools anymore and WE SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF OURSELVES. We have allowed the worst of human nature to fill our halls of Congress and the White House and it's time we stand up for America and take this Great Nation back from those that would seek to rip her to shreds and pick her bones for their own selfish desires.
My family can be traced back to the Revolutionary War and I am proud of that heritage, I am also proud to be called an American, however I am not proud of what America is becoming. I want to leave the same country to my children and grand children that my great, great, great, great grandfather fought so hard to give to me!!! IT'S NOT TOO LATE!!

February 20th 2010..

I have been thinking about the topic of political parties for some time now and I want to share my thoughts with you. I retired a year ago and have spent considerable time reading, watching the cable channels and listening to talk radio. One of the things that struck me is that when they talk about politics I feel as though I am listening to a sporting event...it always seems like it's about beating the other party instead of doing what is best for America. In George Washington's farewell speach he warned us about parties being a distraction from doing what's best for America. Thats what excites me about the Tea Party movement....it's not about party, it's about the values that made America "the Greatest Nation on Earth".

Attacking Americians by attacking the Tea Parties

Are you aware that the super powerful Anti-Defamation League is attacking the Tea Party movement, claiming that millions of anti-Obama Americans are now "conspirators"? You can read ADL's 27-page attack at ADL.org (click here) . Also read Orthodox Rabbi Nachum Shiffron's explosive article against ADL ( click here) . Shiffron says ADL is trying to destroy America's freedoms and values so that ADL can help bring about a one-world government. This is a very real and very frightening threat which the Tea Party should be well aware of.
I have included Rev. Ted Pike's article (click here) , alerting the nation to this threat, which was also published at News With Views . This is an extremely real threat. The ADL is trying to squelch this movement! They are trying to make us be quiet so that they can continue to take away our freedoms! Please take the time to read this very important expose of ADL's sinister goals!

More thought from our Founding Fathers

Government is instituted for the common good; for the protection, safety, prosperity, and happiness of the people; and not for profit, honor, or private interest of any one man, family, or class of men; therefore, the people alone have an incontestable, unalienable, and indefeasible right to institute government; and to reform, alter, or totally change the same, when their protection, safety, prosperity, and happiness require it. John Adams, Thoughts on Government, 1776.

John Adams, Thoughts on Government, 1776

It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes. A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world.

Thomas Jefferson

I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.

Ed Freeman American Hero

This is a story about Ed Freeman a true American Hero. He died last year and I'm sorry to say we heard more about M. Jackson's death and funeral than we did of this man who put his life on the line so others could escape certain death. I wish Ed had been a member of Congress!!!
Freeman's official Medal of Honor citation reads:

Captain Ed W. Freeman, United States Army, distinguished himself by numerous acts of conspicuous gallantry and extraordinary intrepidity on 14 November 1965 while serving with Company A, 229th Assault Helicopter Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile). As a flight leader and second in command of a 16-helicopter lift unit, he supported a heavily engaged American infantry battalion at Landing Zone X-Ray in the Ia Drang Valley, Republic of Vietnam. The unit was almost out of ammunition after taking some of the heaviest casualties of the war, fighting off a relentless attack from a highly motivated, heavily armed enemy force. When the infantry commander closed the helicopter landing zone due to intense direct enemy fire, Captain Freeman risked his own life by flying his unarmed helicopter through a gauntlet of enemy fire time after time, delivering critically needed ammunition, water and medical supplies to the besieged battalion. His flights had a direct impact on the battle's outcome by providing the engaged units with timely supplies of ammunition critical to their survival, without which they would almost surely have gone down, with much greater loss of life. After medical evacuation helicopters refused to fly into the area due to intense enemy fire, Captain Freeman flew 14 separate rescue missions, providing life-saving evacuation of an estimated 30 seriously wounded soldiers -- some of whom would not have survived had he not acted. All flights were made into a small emergency landing zone within 100 to 200 meters of the defensive perimeter where heavily committed units were perilously holding off the attacking elements. Captain Freeman's selfless acts of great valor, extraordinary perseverance and intrepidity were far above and beyond the call of duty or mission and set a superb example of leadership and courage for all of his peers. Captain Freeman's extraordinary heroism and devotion to duty are in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit and the United States Army. God Bless you Ed

Famous Quotes from Famous Americans

George Washington on Government

In his Farewell Address, the first president advised his fellow citizens that "Religion and morality" were the "great Pillars of human happiness, these firmest props of the duties of Men and citizens." "National morality," he added, could not exist "in exclusion of religious principle." "Virtue or morality," he concluded, as the products of religion, were "a necessary spring of popular government."

Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.

Firearms are second only to the Constitution in importance; they are the peoples' liberty's teeth.

Thomas Jefferson on the Redistribution of Wealth

“To take from one, because it is thought his own industry and that of his fathers has acquired too much, in order to spare to others, who, or whose fathers, have not exercised equal industry and skill, is to violate arbitrarily the first principle of association, the guarantee to everyone the free exercise of his industry and the fruits acquired by it.” — Thomas Jefferson, letter to Joseph Milligan, April 6, 1816

“A wise and frugal government… shall restrain men from injuring one another, shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government.” — Thomas Jefferson, First Inaugural Address, March 4, 1801.

James Madison of Redistribution of Wealth

“I cannot undertake to lay my finger on that article of the Constitution which granted a right to Congress of expending, on objects of benevolence, the money of their constituents.” — James Madison, 4 Annals of Congress 179, 1794

John Adams on Redistribution of Wealth

“The moment the idea is admitted into society that property is not as sacred as the laws of God, and that there is not a force of law and public justice to protect it, anarchy and tyranny commence. If ‘Thou shalt not covet’ and ‘Thou shalt not steal’ were not commandments of Heaven, they must be made inviolable precepts in every society before it can be civilized or made free.” — John Adams, A Defense of the Constitutions of Government of the United States of America, 1787

James Madison on "general welfare"

“With respect to the two words ‘general welfare,’ I have always regarded them as qualified by the detail of powers connected with them. To take them in a literal and unlimited sense would be a metamorphosis of the Constitution into a character which there is a host of proofs was not contemplated by its creators.” — James Madison in a letter to James Robertson

Our Founding Fathers

I have been reading a book on the life of George Washington by Anna C. Reed. It was originally published by ASSU press in 1842 and in order to maintain the historical nature of the writing, British spelling and formatting of the text has been kept as they were in the original writing. It's only 295 pages and is a pretty easy read. I recommend it to anyone who wants to get "in the trenches" with George Washington and those brave patriots who sacrificed everything for the cause of Freedom. As I sit here in my comfortable chair, in my beautiful home located in the United States of America and read about the incredible hardships these men went through I feel convicted about how much we have (due to their efforts) and how many of us are too lazy to take a stand against the same things they gave their lives for. The following was written over 150 years ago and sums up what we are facing today..."the worst of human nature".

The desire to possess power, and the ill use of it when possessed, have caused much misery in nations, societies, and families; and even children show the evil effects in overbearing conduct to each other, and in delighting to crush the feeble worm which crawls at their feet. But if that love which fulfils the law of God were in every heart, the precept of our divine Redeemer, "All things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them," would be the rule of all actions; then families, societies, and nations, would be ever peaceful.

George Washington is long gone, so now it is up to us to join the fight and take our country back from those in Washington that ignore the Constitution and seek to destroy what so many gave their lives for. We need men/women in Washington that place America first....."where are today's George Washington's"?
